『DiRT 3』は、シリーズ前作である『Colin McRae™: DiRT™ 2』に、モータースポーツで人気の高い“ジムカーナ”やシリーズ初となる、雪上でのレースなどの魅力的なコンテンツを追加したアクションスポーツ・レースゲームです。本作は、２０１０年度英国アカデミー賞のビデオ・ゲーム部門 ベスト・スポーツ・ゲーム賞を受賞した『F1 2010』の開発技術、『ＥＧＯ』エンジンを用いて制作されています。
プレーヤーは、“ジムカーナ”の技術も兼ね備えたプロのレースドライバーとして、世界の特徴的なロケーションを舞台に、伝統的なオフロードレースから、ド派手なスタントショーまで、歴史的名車を駆使して幅広く参戦。実在の名ドライバーを相手に、刻々と変化する天候や多彩なチャレンジなどに挑みながら、世界のトップを目指します。
